WEBSITE DEVELOPER PRAISED FOR DECISIVENESS
August
13, 2008: Today at the Richmond City Hall staff meeting for departmental
supervisors, Tim Hamilton was granted a character commendation for decisiveness
in his decision to re-build the city's website. As a parent and
concerned citizen, he saw the need for a website that would serve both
government and the community and he knew he had the expertise to accomplish the
task. Therefore, he looked for key factors that would make the site useful
and easy to maintain, then committed himself to see it through in spite of the
time it required-- and gave it free of charge. Rick Childers, city
administrator, presented the award and thanked Tim for his work on the website.
Tim is currently finishing a college course in computers and is also doing some freelance work on other websites.
Also at the staff meeting, Everett Thompson, character trainer, and Deanna Guy, president of the Richmond Character Council, encouraged the supervisors to build character in our community by giving praise for examples of good character. "What you praise, you get more of!" encouraged Guy, so express to others how they have shown a particular character quality and how it has benefited your life. The Character Council plans to increase character commendations in our community and welcome suggestions from others in the community.
