Every one can build character personally and encourage it in others. You can take initiative for Richmond’s Community of Character in the following ways: Model good character by learning the monthly character quality and its definition, then developing it in your own life. A community of character must have individuals building character. It begins with you! Then consider the difference it can make in your family, church, or job. Use Character First! materials to understand and apply the character quality. Materials and training are available for families, schools, churches, businesses, law enforcement, and government. Praise good character when you see it demonstrated by others. What you praise, you encourage and increase! Do it often! Sign up to be identified and work with the Richmond Community of Character initiative. You can become and endorsing organization as an individual, family, or group. Broad participation makes a stronger impact. Contribute money and time to help expand the character initiative in Richmond. You can give for general purposes or to a special project. The Richmond community Character Council is a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax deductible. Contact the character council to learn more, to become involved, or make suggestions. We need YOU to help make Richmond a Community of Character; your involvement can make our community a better place to live and work. As more people build character, the impact grows. So individuals, families, churches, businesses, schools, governmental or law enforcement agencies, and other groups are encouraged to participate. Ø As a citizen: Understand the vital nature of good character, then model it to your family and others. Learn and apply the monthly character quality and its definition (see the website www.characterrichmond.org, newspaper, and Character First! materials). Be alert to praise examples of good character that you see in others. Ø As an Endorsing Organization: Endorsing organizations implement character emphases in their own spheres using the character qualities and definitions, plus support the community-wide efforts with their time and resources. After signing up with the Community of Character Initiative and making a yearly donation, they may send representatives to the Character Council and be publicly known as a part of the character initiative. Ø As an Affiliate: Citizens or groups may build good character using the qualities and definitions of the community initiative or other character programs but choose to not be involved with support of the Character Council. These affiliates are still important to building character into our culture and are encouraged to attend Character Initiative events and meetings. However, they will have official representation only when they choose to be an Endorsing Organization. To learn more or become an endorsing organization, call 776-6926 or 470-5098 or email cfmfamily@isotechnetworks.net . |
